St. Patrick’s Festival, Kilkenny

The St. Patrick’s Day Parade returns to the streets of Kilkenny this year after a two-year break. Last year’s virtual parade was a huge success with participants from across the county and some special guests from around the world. As we return to the streets this year’s Parade promises to be a lively community affair with entertainment for all the family. You will find Team AccessoLoo in Canal Square.

The theme of this year’s Parade is ‘Run with the Wolves’ based around the famous Kilkenny animation studio Cartoon Saloon’s latest Oscar-nominated movie Wolfwalkers. The movie which is set in Kilkenny in 1650 takes inspiration from famous Kilkenny landmarks and forests. Communities are invited to help bring the story to life as they take inspiration from their surroundings and join together to run with the Wolf the main feature of the Parade. If you’d like to take part in the Parade you can find out full details of the theme and more information on the Take Part page on our website.

The Parade will begin at the Market Yard then will head along Parliament Street, High Street, the Parade, and end on the Castle Road. Line the streets and enjoy the pageantry, music, and spectacle.

Before and after the Parade there is lots happening around the city with the Festival Street Food Market, Live Music, Carnival Rides, Workshops, Street Entertainment, and more! So made a day of it, or better still make a couple of days of it as the Festival runs from the 15th – 20th March 2022. Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with us and enjoy the best of Ireland and Kilkenny!
