Another Changing Places installation for Mid & East Antrim

The lead architect on this project - Tony, told us: "...having the expertise from a team who actually use these facilities has proved to be invaluable. We are really grateful for your guidance and the overall cost saving it has provided."

Another Changing Places delivered to Mid & East Antrim

Following on from previously successful partnerships with Mid & East Antrim Borough Council, they once again turned to the team at AccessoLoo to help them with the design of a new toilet facility to serve coastal visitors in Glenarm. Constructed on the shore footpath beside a new playpark and car park, the toilet facilities incorporate male/female toilets a separate accessible toilet as well as a full Changing Places facility. In terms of the overall project we at AccessoLoo were asked to assist with the accessible toilet, ambient provision within the female and male toilets as well as the Changing Places. This represented a first for the team here as previously we had only ever been asked about Changing Places. Working closely with both the council and building contractor we were able to identify issues at the drawing stage of the original design to point out why the plans needed to be altered to get the best out of the entire building. The lead architect on this project – Tony, told us: “…having the expertise from a team who actually use these facilities has proved to be invaluable. We are really grateful for your guidance and the overall cost saving it has provided.”

A view of inside the Changing Places. Pictured is a rectangualr room with window at the far end. Two blue walls and one off-white wall. Inside the room a toilet, is at the far end with a mobile changing table, privacy screen and hoist on the left hand wall. A height adjustable sink, and dispensers can be seen on the right hand wall.

Leading the project for AccessoLoo, Michael Holden reflected: “This project saw a refreshing change in approach. Both the council and contractor were willing to listen and amend the design to get the very best for the users of the entire facility. Working with people who want the best for clients and not an easier route to completion does not always present itself!”

Knowledge gained by the council on this project has been enacted into the next project delivery and once again AccesoLoo has been asked to form part of a team that is bringing yet another Changing Places facility to the borough. Exciting news and we look forward to revealing the next Changing Places in Mid & East Antrim very soon.
